Copper handle?

Has anyone ever seen a copper handled brush? I wish I'd gotten a picture, but I saw one on tuesday at an antique store. It was set with what appeared to be a 2-band finest knot, probably 21-23mm. It was in nasty condition as the clear coat on it had chipped in places and the copper was quite corroded. The knot was permanently bent to one side and crusted over. They still wanted about $50 for it, so I passed it up.

Anyway, the handle was a barrel shape with a collar and a foot, and it had a sort of hammered finish. I imagine the coating was nitrocellulose or acrylic (depending on how old it was). It had no stamp that I could see. Has anyone else run in to a brush like this?

Haven't seen one like that. Would've liked to. I don't think copper would be a good choice for a brush that will get wet, even with a clear coat on it but it's a unique choice for sure.

Not to mention dropping it in a sink, busting a hole in the sink and flooding the floor!

But no, I have not seen such a brush...but that is not saying very much either. I am only scratching the surface so far with my AD's...

I've seen all kinds of metal brushes before. Brass, pewter, paladium on steel (mmm, joris), chrome, nickel... but yes, copper is a strange material. Like I said, it was in pretty nasty shape. However, I did some shopping and came up with some 1 5/8 copper rod stock. I'm going to take a stab at making a copper brush handle of my own. I've done a bit of machining before, and comparatively, this one should be a pretty simple job on the lathe. I've never worked with copper, though. I'll airbrush it with a clear, glossy coat of modeling enamel.
