Country Music

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down'.

I can appreciate country music prior to the 70's, that said anyone that thinks that todays Rockabilly puke, is country should be ...

 

Can you let us know how you really feel.

 

Not all of it is bad these days.

 

I agree, except: I'm inclined to like 80's and before. Dwight Yokum, George Straight, Willy Nelson, Hank Williams Jr were all 80's and before.

 

I like some of George Strait's songs. Then there's those who I consider "Middle Of The Road" CW(Emmylou Harris, Juice Newton, Eddie Rabbitt). Nice to listen to them, too. But a band with a banjo and fiddle worx for me!!!

 

There are the few rare exceptions, but when it got to the point of trying to pick dog crap out of your steak and potatoes, I loose my appetite. All that said I do really appreciate some of the bluegrass coming out, but not that out of tune repetitive Béla Fleck.
Then there are the singers that think that if they wear jeans with holes and a cowboy hat, that their country. It take more than a grease rag and a socket set to be a mechanic.

I may sound like all I'm doing is bashing modern country music, but really what I'm saying is the public needs to be more discerning to what is good and what is garbage. We look at the cover and don't read the book. I grew up listening to country music and when it got to the point not being able to tell the difference between rock & roll and country I walked away.

 

I'm with you on modern country. Just when did "Country Singers", start rapping?? Plus, the lyrics really suck. Give me the oldies, any day.

 

I found some great recordings of the fiddle classic-"Orange Blossom Special". Fun! Although I think it sounds better when they don't play it so fast.

 

Know what happens when you play country western music backwards?

Yep, you get your dog back, your truck back, and your wife back.

 

So anyway this is for real. My neighbor and my realtor invited me over for a cocktail etc. After a bit someone broke out some weed. I partook and shortly thereafter fell flat on my face literally. I'll never smoke weed with my neighbor again.
