1. I keep checking (in vain) for shaving paraphernalia in the local Craigslist. I did run across this shaving stand which even comes with a strop. If I buy this, do you think it would fit in a dog house?

  3. It all depends on how much they want for it.

  5. Very cool. Does it go with the wife's decor? If not, get a very big dog house.
  6. What kind of dog do you have? Irish Wolfhound? It might fit.
  7. Roll the dice & see what happens.

  9. If it does not fit the dog house you have an excuse to buy a bigger dog house. I love those stands wish I had one.

  11. It might not fit...but it could make a nice accent piece to the outside of the lil guys dog house

  12. Quaint...but after a few shaves using it...and having to manually fill and empty the basin each time...the novelty would wear thin.

I've seen a few of these at antique shops and most are ideal (basin and mirror height) for someone 5'7" or shorter.
  13. Thanks for the reality check, Kevin :). Besides I'm to sloppy at the sink for that to work :D
  14. My wife loved the look of those pieces (as do I) but in real world application, my back started hurting just thinking about constantly lifting that heavy water-filled basin. :p

  16. I love vintage wet shaving, but it must include running water!

  17. When I had a small office warehouse, that's almost EXACTLY how I shaved. I had a large Corelle bowl that I put in the microwave for heating water, dipped a washcloth, wet the face, soaped up, and shaved, rinsing out in the bowl. I then rinsed my face with cold water.

It's not as big of a hassle as you think.
  18. Very cool; did you show the wife? Maybe she'll like it too.

  19. Show your wife, then don't buy it. Then you can buy more straights.
