so, as a previous post mentioned, I made a Bari Sax mouthpiece into a shave brush (it's actually a nice brush, the handle is unique and strangely comfortable). Now I'm looking to do another: A friend of mine and fellow wet shaver is a Woship Pastor at our church and his anniversary with the church is coming up. I wanted to make a special brush for him and my first thought was a microphone. It seems a little crazy, but I think it could work. I would, of course, have to gut the electronics, but I would put a synthetic knot in it to limit the required water exposure as much as possible. Any thoughts on potential issues?
that's a cool idea! would the knot be at the mouthpiece (I don't know what its called) or the bottom of the handle with the metal grate at the bottom?
I was thinking putting the knot at the bottom so it keeps the look of a mic. The only thing I worry about is that I can't find anything that says what metal the microphone is made out of and I'm afraid it'll rust. And that would suck.
They are like an aluminum alloy of some sort or pot metal. I have seen corroded mics from time to time. I would suggest a coat of satin finish krylon clear coat. There is also a cheaper alternative, many karaoke mics and vid game mics for rock band have plastic housings.
yea it wouldn't be good if it starts to rust. I agree about leaving the top of the mic there so you can see what it is. post pics when it comes together. it sounds like it would be a cool piece.
