Folks, I used to love Proraso Green for many years before I (recently) bought a tub of SNM, and have to report it is an exceptional cream(probably the best cream in the world?). The post shave skin feeling is phenomenal. Combining it with Proraso aftershave splash, my face feels smooth and conditioned for 24 hours after the shave. Awesome fragrance too. Consider this - I used to find shaving such a chore, but with SNM I look forward to shaving daily. BTW I use an exceptional brush to go with the cream - the Shavemac 944 D01. If there is one area that SNM lacks a bit as compared to Proraso - it is the razor glide. With Proraso I could shave the same area multiple times even after the cream had washed off and it would be super smooth. Not so with SNM - since SNM washes off quickly. So I thought - why not combine the best properties of both creams and create the ultimate SUPER cream. The one cream to beat them all. Incidentally both creams are made by the same manufacturer. Tomorrow morning I will experiment with it. I will first load SNM as usual, and then twirl the brush couple of times in Proraso Green. Lets see how the experiment goes. Will post results tomorrow. What you're experimenting with is an uber lather and it's been done with probably every cream, soap, and croap in existence for years. I think it's great and you will have fun doing it. Enjoy!
creating super lather or this uber lather stuff, raises a question. if the great soap you are using is lacking in what you find to be a critical department, why are you taking the time to combine it with other soaps that are better in that critical department, and just as good in the other departments.... to make a super soap. I guess, if the only thing the SNM lacks is slickness, and the proraso green has the slickness you need in your daily shave. And the proraso green seems to be about as good, or at least acceptable in all other areas of shaving... then why are you combining the two soaps to make an expensive usable soap when the lower cost proraso green already gives what you want?
Well I like both SMN and Proraso - SMN for the smell and the post shave skin feel and Proraso for the razor glide and conditioning (not that Proraso is bad in the post shave feel). I have been combining both of them very successfully over these last few months to great effect. No looking back.
Sometimes people who shave for fun, just like to play around. I have done it to combine scents, or in the case of "uber" lathering, I just had to try it to see if it was so fantastic that the earth shifted on its axis or something. For me, if I do it, I want to combine scents.
