I would covet the prayers of my family here at The Shave Den. I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer back in October. The biopsy barely caught a sliver of cancer, rated as low moderate in terms of it’s aggressiveness. Radical prostatectomy was performed in December; surgery went well, and I recovered fairly quickly from some of the side affects that accompany that procedure. The bad news - post op pathology report showed the cancer was stage 3, having moved outside the prostate; furthermore the cancer was upgraded to just into a high risk category. The good news - the cancer had not invaded some of the surrounding tissue, so there is no evidence of metastasis. Evidence of metastasis would upgrade it to stage 4. I’ll begin radiation in about 5 weeks, having had two procedures to implant fiducial markers, base line x-rays, non -diagnostic CT scan, and permanent tattoos to help align radiation equipment. I would appreciate your prayers for complete eradication of the cancer. Survival rate at 5 years for stage 3 is near 100%, but there is a relatively high risk of reoccurrence. Thank you, Tony.
Wishing you a full recovery! I also had prostate cancer, back in 2010. I elected to have the surgery and thankfully, I have made a full recovery.
You know it, praying for you. So the cancer turned out to be more severe than the biopsy showed, but does not appear to have spread, is that where you're at now?
I will certainly pray for your situation. Sorry to hear the news. Let me know if you ever need anything locally. I live in Hoover. I think you're out in Pleasant Grove if I recall correctly.
Correct. The cancer did go through the wall of the prostate, and they do consider it to be high risk. But there isn’t any evidence to indicate it has spread at this point. We’re hoping and praying radiation will eradicate any remaining cancer cells.
Yes, that’s correct. I sincerely appreciate your kind offer, and will let you know if I need anything. Chris, @Bama Samurai, has relatives in the area. Next time he’s here for a visit, we should meet up.
Prayers for sure! Try to stay as positive as you can. I've heard time and again that a person's outlook can really make a difference in terms of cure. Perhaps an "old wives tale," but it also can't hurt. Best of luck!
My Family and I will pray for complete healing and protection from this. We will pray for you and your family. Stay strong and please keep us posted!
