I thought this would be a fun thread for everyone to show off their creative side. Here I use a large Rx pill container for a blade bank, I simply cut a slit in the top and wrap tape around the bottom of the cap to childproof. Two containers from the 99 cent store (3pack) One for blades, and one with wintergreen rubbing alcohol to give my razor a bath. The white tape is teflon tape, I'm hoping it prevents the alcohol from evaporating so frequently.
I like it. Speaking of razor cleaning...the RazoBrites comes up frequently for sale for about $20 or so but I don't think I've ever heard/read anyone using one these days. I wonder if the dome is for alcohol evaporation reasons.
I like that a lot! This is the second time I had to add alcohol in the last couple of weeks, so I figured I'd try sealing the lid with the teflon tape, I'll know in a week or two if it was useful.
Do you keep those out on the counter or is that in a cabinet? I need to make myself a blade banks but all my cabinet space is taken up at the moment.
@Darkbulb I looked last night for the RazorBrite I found a couple chipped ones for under $20, I found a mint one for $95
Keep looking. I got mine for under$20.00 and it's perfect. They come up once in a while for a good price.
Some of my DIY shaving accessories. Razor/brush stands. Brass punch handle for SE razors. Scuttle made with soup bowl and doggie dish. Mini bottles with labels make product last longer. Here are a couple of blade disposal banks. I made lids so I can stack my mugs.
Fantastic! Your scuttle is great! I love the lid idea! The mini bottles I've always admired! The racks!
The mini bottles with labels?!?!?! How did you make those? And color coordination ?! Fantastic! Great job
I made a storage box out of a cigar box and it is working out nicely... http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/first-shot-at-a-storage-box.42432/#post-778169
A Pair of Razobrites on ebay now for 34.99. I would get them and PIF the second but I'm out of funds at the moment. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Razobrite-B...674641?hash=item280a5ec451:g:lqcAAOSwwbdWJAtd
DIY: Late in 2014, I decided I needed some method to keep my razors not only organized but 'safe' as well from the dampness of the bathroom. Moisture and carbon steel blades are not good playmates. Taking some inspiration from the cutlery drawer (felt-lined channels for assorted cutlery) in our dining room buffet cabinet, I drew up a design to accommodate at least 8 razors and still fit within the drawer space of my bathroom vanity. Initial design renderings…. I had some oak left over from another project and so built some boxes. I decided to limit it to seven per box (a week's worth). The frame would be of oak and the base and dividers would be felt-covered alder. I decided also to make the drawer a 'two-story' organizer and allow for DE blade and razor storage. Still building & fitting together pieces. Since I dont use a DE razor much anymore, I've allowed a cozy space for two of them, plus room for about 24 packets of blades. Completed upper box with a week's worth of straight razors... Drawer inserts in place. Wife is happy that I keep the counter top de-cluttered…most of the time. Top box slid back to reveal the DE stuff. Turns out there was room for 4 razors, plus handles, alum block, etc. I do like having the removable box so I take the whole section out for honing, cleaning, etc. Drawer holds about 15 straights in total. I've since added a number of silica packets to the drawer.
