Do you lather in a bowl, use a scuttle, or on the face?

Bowl lather because I have more control over and can regulate the thickness (I like) easier. I use an old 70's solid plastic salad bowl I found at Goodwill. I marked the bottom with a sheet rock knife to aid the mixing.
