How many of you moisturize your bodies following a shower or at any other time during the day? I've been doing it regularly for 5-6 years without much thought. Now I'm beginning to wonder if it's at all necessary, especially since my skin isn't dry.
Any moisturizing I do on my body is purely accidental. Occassionally I'll rub some excess Corn Huskers Lotion (that I use after shaving) onto my arms just to dispose of some excess but other than that, no, I don't go out of my way to moisturize the humidity is high enough here (in Florida) that I really doubt it is necessary but even in dry climates I was never a big lotion after shower guy and I never had any problems.
During dry winter days I moisturize my knees and elbows, but don't need to most of the year. I work with paper for my job an use lotion on my hands as needed, which is a couple times a day when working heavily with paper, or not at all if I'm doing field work or meetings.
Just my face in the morning - the lotion I use is from Kiehls - somewhat heavy but not greasy/oily. That lasts me the day. I use Kiehls hand salve through out the day for my hands though as they tend to get try especially as the weather gets cooler. The rest of my body...nope.
I haven't in ages but I used to, my favourite was/is Harrogate Sulphur Soap Body Lotion, used to help with keratosis pilaris :ashamed001. The original Clearasil contained Sulphur.......
Several years ago I ditched the standard Irish Spring like bar soaps and switched to Caswell Massey’s tripple milled bar soaps. From that day on I no longer needed any body moisturizer.
I'm surprised by how few lube themselves up here. I don't think I have to , but without it my showers would feel incomplete. What's more, I think moisturising improves the appearance of skin, not necessarily over the long haul - no proof - but while it's on. Moist skin looks better than untouched, clean skin.
nope, being male prohibits me from such trifles..... kidding aside, no I don't. Don't need to, and even if I did need to, I wouldn't, I hate the greasy oily feel, even if it's temporary
It shouldn't feel greasy or oily. Maybe you just haven't found the right one yet. Want me to send you a sample of mine?
Me too, Irena--my skin must to be moisturized everyday, 3 times per day. The morning, after my shower and shave, at lunch, and after my shower before to go to sleep.
Other than shaving the only moisturizing I do is Chap stick. I don't even like to touch my wife after she moisturizes until it has had a chance to soak in. I can't stand the greasy feeling either, she says it isn't greasy, but I feel like I just got done working on the car after she inadvertently gets some on me. This one must come down to YMMV.
Has anyone found a decent moisturizer that also includes SPF protection? I use a Cetaphil no-fragrance moisturizer on my face that includes SPF15, but I'm wondering about a combo deal for the rest of my body. Essentially, I'm looking for a reason to remember to put on sunscreen for the summer months.
I have simply been using Glysomed (from Safeway, Shopper's). It's a moisturizing had/body lotion with glycerin, and other wonderful stuff. I've been using regularly on my face, and rubbing the residual into my hands and shoulders. The stuff works amazing well though, and I really like the smell. It keeps everything moist for a long time. For instance, when I use it before bed, in the morning my face is still fairly moist. I hesitate to admit this, but it's nearly replaced aftershave for me. I use my witchhazel concoction then put on the Glysomed. If I want to smell real nice I add some Aqua Velva musk aftersave / cologne. Whatever works, eh?
