I have always used my boar brushes with a pre-shave oil and a cream or soap, but until my last shave - I didn't use my badger with oil as I saw a comment that maybe oil damages a badger brush. Is this true?

    It shouldn't.

Nope. I have used PS oil and no harm to any brush. Muriatic acid did harm one brush though.

I don't think so. I have been using a pre-shave oil with a badger brush for at least four years with no harm at all to the brush.

Same here - I use preshave oil every day and it has yet to show any effect on my brush.

it shouldn't harm the brush, With all the lather on the brush it should prevent the oil from saturating the brush or at least wash the oils off the brush when you rinse it out when you are done.

It does do damage to your lather, however, especially if you face lather.
