In Korea we celebrate Lunar New Year but many of you know it as Chinese New Year. It is one of the two big holidays here. Korea is a desert when it comes to traditional wet shaving, it is even hard to find Dorco blades. The only positive we have is that Feather blades and CJB shavettes are cheap and easy to buy from a Korean beauty supplies vendor on the web.... if you can read Korean. The items in this PIF: Brand new CJB shavette straight razor and one box containing 20 Feather Pro Blades. The Rules: 1. I have to rely on vendors and forum members willing to ship internationally so if are a CONUS ONLY type of person you are out. Exceptions made for products containing alcohol since they are illegal to ship in the US and UK. If you are UK based and UK only you are out too. Many members have sold to me and shipped international so I want to thank them. If you have never sold an item on The Shave Den then please promise you will include your international brothers, of course we will pay the extra shipping and take the customs risk. 2. If you already have a CJB or Feather shavette or are entering just to win the blades please pass and let someone who wants to try a shavette win. 3. To enter please say 'I'm in.' and tell me why you started traditional wet shaving and what new things you hope to learn or purchase this year. To enhance your chances of winning tell us why you want to try this shavette 4. The contest will end March 8th, the winner to be selected at my discretion based on your answer. Happy New Year and good luck. Also thank you to all the members of this forum for sharing your knowledge and to those of you who hooked a fellow international brother up! 1. I've PIFed a couple items internationallly already. First was some Derby blades. Probably not worthy of a PIF. Second was a Fatboy. Maybe that redeemed the first . 2. Never tried a Feather, Kai, or CJB, or anything that uses those blades. 3. I'm in. I started DE shaving because I finally got tired of the constant razor burn I got from carts. Then progressed to injectors and then straights (occasionally). I've been working on getting good with a straight and even though I feel like I'm getting decent edges on them, they never quite feel sharp enough. I've been thinking a Feather / Kai / CJB is the way to go for me but haven't pulled the trigger yet. 4. Thanks for the PIF!
I'm in Never PIFed internationally but since i'm in EU I strongly dislike the "CONUS" guys too and would never limit my shipping. A shavette and feather blades are my next item to try out during this year on my search for the smooth, irritation free shave. I started wet shaving cause i didn't like the number of blades constantly going up on those disposable cartridges and quality of the shave decreasing with each new blade added. Also, to save some money but that simply isn't true anymore :/
I am in. I haven't done any selling or PIF internationally on this board but have in my other interests and via eBay. As long as the buyer worked with me on shipping, I have never had a problem. I started wet shaving because I am prone to irritation and this seemed like a good way to control that. I also have an affinity for vintage items so that was a bonus cool factor. I haven't done any straight shaving and have been looking into the leap. Shave this appeal to me for the lower maintenance of the blade so it seems like a great place to jump in. Thanks for the opportunity!
I'm in. PIFs I have offered were open worldwide. I initially began wetshaving as an American Civil War reenactor, that didn't work out well for me(no great forums to learn from back then) and i spent the next 25 years shaving with disposable razors. One day, looking at the rusty ring from a can of barbasol, I remembered when I used the brush and soap before. Did some web searches and developed a few AD's and have never enjoyed shaving more. I'm hoping to finally figure out the best way to get a bbs shave on my neck with a straight. Thank you for your generous offer!
Great PIF. I am definitely in. I do not limit my on PIF's based on any geographic region. I rely on international shipping to receive most of my blades and I have no problems shipping internationally to others. Hey, it's a big world and we're all part of it. I started traditional wetshaving for two reasons. First of all was a desire to save money. Well, ok, so that didn't work out. Also, though, because I love history and find it incredibly satisfying to work with vintage gear and traditional methods. It's an art and one that I thoroughly enjoy. I have been seriously considering moving into straight razors and think your offer is a great one to start with! Thanks for offering.
I would definitely like to be in. I have never sold anything on here before but did start a pif after seeing the home page of the shave den about march being pif month and it is open to everyone. After checking out the tsd map my first few days on here, i don't like excluding so many brothers and sisters just because of where they live, especially when they might not have the same selection we have here in the states. I started wetshaving because i was getting irritation from everything else and also partially to save money, which has all but backfired. I haven't tried a straight and was deciding whether i want to start with a regular straight or a shave but after seeing maintenance required decided on a shavette. I have been prowling the 'bay and other classifieds since. Im also still in the middle of trying every soap and cream i can get my hands on, and want to keep antique hunting for both de razors and straights. Ever since switching over to a de my skin irritation has been reduced drastically and hopefully when i master a shavette i will banish it for good! thanks for the generous PIF.
I'm in! I haven't sold or PIF'd anything on this board yet, but when I do, I would definitely offer to all. I have purchased many items from overseas and have always greatly appreciate the ability to do so! I have only been wet shaving for about 6 months now. I got into it for 3 reasons: 1) It's been a fun adventure that my 16 year old son and I have decided to do together. 2) Shaving was an un-fun and monotonous chore before I started wet shaving. Now I look forward to each and every shave and am actually a bit sad when I'm too busy to get a shave in. 3) Traditional wet shaving is so much better for the environment. And as a bonus, it's cheaper. Well maybe in a few years after my RAD calms down! I am grateful that I no longer litter the land with disposable, plastic, multi-blade garbage. I love my Gillettes, Schicks, double edge & single edge razors and it has been a lot of fun learning each and every one of them over the past 6 months. However, I now have a very strong desire to learn Straight Razor Shaving. I have heard that if you can master a shavette, then shaving with a Straight should be a walk in the park. I also want to share this experience with my son. He definitely has an interest in Straights but is a little intimidated by them. Once I get good at a shavette, I think he'll have more confidence and I can then pass on the shavette to him. I look forward to sharing this experience with him! This is a truly generous PIF. Thanks so much for the opportunity!
Please count me in... I started wet shaving because a coworker got me interested, and being military at the time, we had to stay looking sharp. I wish I would have known about this hobby so much sooner. I have gone through many of the various acquisition disorders over the past year, and feel like I have learned quit a bit so far. The next chapter in my shave journey is going to be shavettes and straights. This would be a perfect way to get started, and I really like how maneuverable this razor looks. I spent a year in Korean myself stationed at Osan air base and wondering songtan. I plan on offering up a few PIF's next month, and one of them will be OCONUS only. I agree you poor guys get the short end when it comes to classifieds. Thanks for the opportunity.
I'm in I started wet shaving a few months ago since the cartridge razors always seemed to ruin my neck. I never really knew wet shaving was still around but I am glad I started doing it. I have solely been DE but an opportunity like this excites me to explore the different equipment in the wet shaving community. I hope to try everything that I can afford this year. It is exciting to try new products and I have to have it all. lol. Unfortunately my wallet (and wife) keep me reeled in on my purchases.
Im in. I started wet shaving about three months ago when my grand father gave me his old safety razor. He is quite old and we didn't think he should be using it much more. He taught me how to use it and i have never looked back. However being a college student i cant really afford the finer things of wet shaving. this would be a great opportunity to get into a new subcategory of a dying tradition that has treated me so well
To enter please say 'I'm in.' and tell me why you started traditional wet shaving and what new things you hope to learn or purchase this year. im in. i started because it was a gift from my brother and eventually used my merkur when i got the nerve. i hope to join more about shaving in general im a newbie and havent been on the forums or online so i dont know much.
I am in please. Although I have done some sales and a PIF or two that were CONUS, it was usually because there was alcohol involved. I will make sure to do my part in making anything I do in the future International. In the late 1980's or early 90's my Grand Mother gave me a Gillette Super Speed (1953) that was my Grand Father's. I always had it in my bathroom but didn't use it for several years after. I had lost my job and funds were tight so I saw it as a chance to "trim the fat" so to speak. Tighten up the budget in any way that I could. I had been using VDH soap and brush for a while just because of the superior shave compared to canned product so I thought, why not pick up a pack of DE blades at the local grocery. In essence, I started to save money...imagine that now! Thank you for the chance to try these out and best of luck to all!
Not in but very generous of you and good of you to tackle the CONUS issue. I did only one PIF and I opened it to Canada and US only. Thanks to you I will be doing my next PIF this month and it will be worldwide.
I'm in . Got into wet shaving because I could never get a close shave with multiple blades razors and had already started using brush and shave soap with razors as its so much easier on my face. I hope to have a PIF in the near future. Have not done a PIF yet hoping to have a load of blades and maybe a razor and soap. I hope to find a Nice Fatboy this year and do a couple brush restores. I want to give Shavettes a try because I have thought of trying a straight but hate to drop that kinda money on a razor only to find I'm not good at stropping and honing a razor. Shavettes would seem to be a logical step in that direction to build my skill sets with a straight as far as shaving. thanks for offering the great PIF
I'm in. My wife researched and bought me my first wet shavings kit after listening to me constantly complain about cartridge prices for years. I have admired the shavette as the first step into straight razor shaving and plan on getting one soon. Being a Canadian I'm certainly aware of the frustrations with obtaining products from abroad. I have several items planned for my first PIF March here and will be offering up them Internationally of course.
Last chance. I should have been more specific this PIF will end March 8 Korea time. Thank you for all the interesting entries.
