I've never seen a double bladed straight razor before. Maybe gssixgun knows something about it? Where there any makings on it? I don't think I'd pay $300 for it.
They are rather rare, but they are out there I have heard a few stories about them being a "Barber's Razor" also a "Travel razor" but have never seen the proof You would use one blade leaving the second tucked into the scales while in use of course.. Just never struck me as a great idea, and obviously they never really caught on because only a few makers brought them out..
good for restore. or take the blades rescale into two razors. I have one in a case never used it never will but it looks well as a display piece.
For those shavers who always want a back-up on there road just in case. In case of what? The primary loses its edge? I suppose. Perhaps you have two faces that need shaving? A dedicated razor for each side of one's face?
They seem to have basically no tang either. Would you use them more like a Japanese razor instead? The balance would seem odd otherwise.
mycarver on shavenook has one made in France with paperwork showing the provenance. His example is very fancy and old.
As Glen mentioned, they are out there. I have seen several on the bay and other forums. A little dangerous but a very cool razor(s).
I've seen photos of them before, just like a multibladed jack knife. 2 sharp blades, like rotating razors except you have one razor 2 blades.
Read this thread about Mark's find. Beautiful whale scales with scrimshaw and ornate blades. Not so scary. http://straightrazorplace.com/razors/95370-rare-find.html
