Just received my Double Ring back from Razorplate. Another beautiful job by Chris bringing and ole timer back to life. His attention to detail and pride in his work is why (me) and other razor buffs continue to send our prized shavers to him. Thanks again Chris.

Chris advised that he did a triple silver plate process just like Gillette did back then...

For some reason I am not a fan of replating... can not even explain why...... butttttt.. that is a beautiful razor. Going back with the original silver plate is just classy. Great job all around. Thanks for sharing with us.

Wow that's great to hear! I have a French Aristocrat OC tto that the silver is wearing off and I would like to oneday get it replated in silver. Does he adjust, repair and take apart razors or does he just plates them flaws and all?

@preidy - is that a small hairline crack at the top of the handle in the first picture?

It's just like repainting an old car. It's a part of restoration.

He and Cap'n Murphy work together. Chris does the plating and Cap does the repairs and adjustments. I believe Cap is Vintage Razor Repair. They've worked on two of my adjustables.

I have always seen a razor as more of a tool I guess. I like the nice shiny ones like anyone else. Just never got into the replating.. I like a razor to look like it has been loved and used.

Heh. Kind of like how I get offended when I see a pickup truck that looks like they waxed the bed on a regular basis?
