Edging a beard with a straight?

One thing I haven't seen addressed here is how one would shave with a straight and edge his beard neatly. It seems like it might be tough with the round tip that many razors have. Is it tricky? Any tricks?

Nope, not that tricky actually. The tip makes little difference, although certain spots are easier with a square point, that is true.

With some practice and experimentation you can trim any kind of beard with a straight, and I would argue that it will be a lot easier than any other type of shaving implement, particularly for tight spots like inside a goatee.

Agreed. I have a handlebar mustache and I find I can get in tighter with a str8 than with a DE or SE. Like James said, experiment and practice.

I find I get the best results using a (slightly muted) square-tip small straight. I have a few 3/8 and 4/8 blades that I seldom use for anything else.

Straights actually give me much better beard lines than anything else I've tried.
