I just received my Edwin Jagger 3D laser cut diamond double edged razor today. WOW! It is a beauty. I have spoken with several people that have had interest in this blade, so I felt I should help out with a review. If anyone else has one, please feel free to add your review and/or comments as well.
My first impressions are that it is one of the most beautiful razors I have ever seen...particularly the handle. At $48 flat, I got a deal! The grip on it is incredible. I just couldn't imagine it dropping. The packaging is quite nice as well and I definitely appreciate them adding 10 platinum feather razor blades. My only wish would be that it had a box to put it in. I guess I will have to look for something equally cool for storing it in. I have already shaved today, so the official performance review will have to wait until tomorrow.
Ok. I shaved with the ej laser this morning...and I have to say im impressed. When doing these reviews, I really like to go for bare bones setups to really get a feel for the razor (e.g. no preshave oil, no extra fluff). I used cold water, stirling soaps black cherry (a 10/10 soap...you need to try it if you haven't), an Edwin Jagger apothecary mug, feather platinum razor blade, and of course...the Edwin Jagger 3d laser cut razor. This razor looks great on my display. It is an impressive, great looking razor. The grip is fantastic. I purposely put soap and water on the handle to see the reaction, and it is solid. This thing isnt going anywhere. Phenomenal grip. The razor has a nice weight to it. It feels solid in the hand. I was concerned about the aggressiveness, or lack thereof, but it really wasn't a problem. The feather blades are so sharp that I had no problem. I will try it with a milder blade and report back later. I had a 2-pass shave and a near BBS shave. I should have gone 3 passes I suppose, but I didn't quite have the time. This was only my first go with it, but it left a great impression.
