English Gems?

    I never knew that Gem razors were made in England. It's a little hard to see in the picture, but it's there.

    Yes they were. Gem and Star and Ever-Ready were a three different companies at one point then bought and congealed into American Safety Razor.

    It does not surprise me that there was a factory in the UK.

    So, are the English Gems as desirable as the English Gillettes?

    I think they sold the English made GEMs in the States, so they seem quite a bit easier to find. I have an English Ever Ready 1912 that I picked up at a local antique mall. That and now that Dave insulted Tuckaways, I have to say GEMs smell bad. ;)

    The odd thing that I find is that Gems from the same time period but made in the UK are styled differently that in the US. The handles seem more ornate.
