As of right now, I've got an order on a used Elektra Micro Casa A Leva machine!!!! I'm excited. Might be picking it up this weekend.
I HATEEE craigslist. I made my offer and said I'd pick it up on sunday. The woman said great. Today she emails me that she already told somebody else yes. I'm extremely pissed now.
Bummer, I just saw this and was very happy, then sad for you ....the Elektra's are supposed to be very nice machines....did you follow up to make sure the other person bought it?
Well, I sent the woman an email saying I'd give her an extra hundred if she told the other buyer she never got the check and let me come pick it up. She never emailed me back. I wanted to send her an unpolite message for telling me it was mine and than saying she had already sold it. I'm now looking at one that costs a bit more but is still a good deal. I'm also looking at some gaggia factories, europicoloas, and a la pav professional. We shall see what happens. I just sold most of my bass gear and have a little money to drop on it.
Ok. So some *)&#@* with sniping software took the elektra on the bay. I now hate ebay. It makes me upset. Now im looking at a zabars rebranded la pavoni 16 professional and a md-50 grinder. Its from a guy in the same town I went to school so it could be worth a visit and a good buy. I'm waiting for him to run some tests on the machine to check the gaskets and all that. We shall see.
Thanks Klaus. Its all worked out. The la pavoni pro 16, MD-50 grinder with auto-fill doser circuit removed, and a reg barber tamp for under $500. There is also a place on the way to where I'm going to get the machine that has mazzer super jollys for $75 dollars. They were scrapped by starbucks long ago and the guys got a handfull still left. Not sure if any are in propper working order but if there is one that is, I'll probably pick it up and can have it looking spiffy for another $50 or so.
Wow, that is some beautiful equipment Jay. I look forward to seeing pictures and hearing how it treats you! Congrats!
Well heres the machine. Its not a very good picture. He said that it was barely used and looks like its brand new. The grinder is just like that one as well. I'll just have to replace the burrs soon.
Very nice, Congrats Jason!! Looks like you have a great new setup there If you need some new burrs, this place may be able to hook you up or Espresso parts........ Congrats again!
Thanks Neale. Espresso parts has em', unfortunately theyre almost $60 everywhere. Its the only way the jolly wins because I can get those for under $20.
Nice, the Jolly burrs sound they they are priced nicely.....I need to pickup an extra set or two for our Mazzer....I think they are rated at over 600 LBS.....perhaps more for the Jolly so they should last a good long time..... Just keep an eye out if your roasting a lot of dry processed beans for the occasional stone / rock :shocked003
Haha. True, I always give them nice long shakes in large strainers to get everything out. I usually sift it on big cookie trays as well. Check ebay for burrs. A guy was in europe and bought tons of mazzer burrs in blister packs for a really low price and brought them home to sell on ebay. I'm stoked. Another couple of weeks before I'll be able to go pick it up though.
Sweet, thanks for the heads up....I will go and look there now Are you getting the Super Jolly? it's been a while since I researched them. EDIT: just looked.....no burrs there for me
Ahhh thats a shame. I may get a super jolly. It depends on what the guys got at the scrap metal yard. He caught all the machines after starbux scrapped them years ago and he was selling them on the bay for a while. Hes supposed to call me tomorrow and let me know what hes got. They are just the bodies, and some may have dosers still attached. No lids and no hoppers. If I were to get one it would have to be with atleast an intact doser, working and smoothe running motor, and a working adjustment ring. After that, I can strip the doser and make it doserless if so desired, and run it without a hopper since apparently most people dont use them anyway. Whatever he has left is only $75 so we'll see. Otherwise its the MD-50 my buddies been working on.
Hey Jay... I've been meaning to ask... is RAO's still around in Amherst? Scott (Rao) used to roast his own beans and he had some of the best coffee I'd ever tasted.:eatdrink013 There was a nearby convalesence home where the elderly would often complain about the smell, though. He was even afraid he might get shut down for a while. I'm sure you've tried his coffee if he's still around... if you haven't, you are missing out!
