Washington, DC is the home to several ethinic grocers. Have you had any luck picking up shave items at ethnic grocers?

I have one chain store that you might have heard of called Lotte's Plaza http://www.lotteplaza.com/. DC's china town had nothing that I could find, one hole in the wall grocer with some tea and little else. Haven't had much luck at finding shave items at these sorts of stores.

I typically buy all my family's produce, on a weekly basis in chineese ethinic grocers. Prices are 1/3rd of most grocery stores and quality is much better and they don't care, was in their last week-end and 2/3rds of the customers were non-chineese.

I think Ethnic stores do allow all types of people in their stores. Call me crazy, but I believe the main color they like is green.

My only advice is to go into the store and look for products. If you say you didnt find an item and I say i did does not change the fact its not in your store.

    Crazy! :p

Try Indian stores, JB. I certainly can't promise you'll find anything, but Indian stores are your best bet from what I've heard.

This is exactly the sort of info I am looking for JoAnna. How about Ethiopian grocers. I am going to look for the Indian Grocers, I have no idea where they are and I am going to have to see if my old pal, an indian woman is still working for the company I work for.

A couple of years ago I struck up a friendly relationship with an Indian grocer in Atlantic City. On one of his trips to India he brought back a nice assortment of Indian shaving supplies for me. Godrej creams and shaving rounds, nylon brushes, 7 O'Clock blades, and click top razors.

I've had no luck with a few Indian grocers in the Milwaukee area.

Yeah, I ran to every one in my area a long time ago, and had no luck. They even looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for shaving cream. :o

But other people have reported finding stuff.

    Indian Stores

I have tried six Indian markets in and around Boston and saw shaving cream in one. It was not what I was looking for so I passed. However, one can acquire an Indian market acquisition disorder if one is not careful. I have found myself leaving Indian markets with such things as European style Ovaltine (less sugar, more malt), and masala flavored tea bags put out by Tetley and generally sold in India.

If you could let me know where this store was, I'd be quite grateful. I've only found one Indian grocer nearby that stocks shave creams, but it wasn't located in Boston (it was in Cambridge).

Shalimar on Mass. Ave. in Central Square Cambridge. When I was there I saw one type of Dettol and Nivea Shaving Cream in a tube. That was it. No blades: no razors.

Thanks for the quick response, APC.

That's the grocery I was talking about. I completely forgot their name. They might have had one more cream when I was there last. I remember the Dettol, Nivea, and could have sworn that there was also a tube of some natural shave cream.

Other than that place, I haven't found any other Indian Groceries that stock anything else.

Have you stumbled across any other good wetshaving places in the Boston area?
