Just had one of the worst shaves I've had in a long time. It's all my fault. Wanted to try a new soap sample that was sent with my Zenith Boar Pressed the whole wad into my Fine Lather Bowl Used too much water Couldn't get a good lather in the bowl Brought it to the face Just soapy water After a few minutes started getting something that looked like lather Took my first pass Wasn't careful Rushed Dumped what I could from the bowl Rung the brush Reloaded brush Brought it to the face Added water little by little to the brush as I face lathered Okay lather Second pass Rushed again like someone was chasing me Lathered a third time Okay lather Kept telling myself to take my time Rushed anyway Felt like a total disaster Face felt like raw meat The shave was actually almost BBS Used Alum Block Never felt so much pain after a shave (Still liked it for some crazy reason) Rinsed Face Dried off Applied Aftershave (Williams Lectric) Some sting, but not as bad as Alum (Liked the sting) Felt like I just double bogeyed an easy Par 4 Anyone else have a shave like this, or have I lost my dang mind? I should have test lathered that sample before trying to go full bore on it. I had my Derby Stick there as back up. I could have backed out and just used the Derby Stick. I had everything set up for success, but I ran full steam straight into failure. What the heck is wrong with me?
This is how we learn. Every now and then I forget to practice what I preach and get a shave from Hell. It happens to all of us.... well maybe just most of us.
Hey D Had a few of those as described. Those kinda shaves help keep me humble when using very sharp implements on my face. I back up and punt the next day or two by using some of my favorite razor, blade, brush, and lather combinations. Glad to see it's not just me that has a day start out like that every blue moon. Thanks for sharing! Better luck next time!! tp
I have no idea what you're talking about ...... I walk in to a shave saying I hate these ____ blades, but it's been a long time since I tried them. One pass and SIX weepers later with a BBS shave, still saying I hate these ___ blades. ..... no idea what you're talking about ......
My shaves are all unicorns and skittles.... yeaaa right. We all have a off day now and then. Keep heading toward the light!!
That principle applies to many other things. I say that at work quite a bit. We have all been there. To a greater or lesser degree. I have a hard and fast rule in my den, and I taped it to my mirror as well. Only one new thing at a time. I finally learned after having peed on said proverbial electric fence one to many times.
