I picked this ER nylon brush up the other day and while it looked nice in its original state I thought it would look better restored with a Maggard knot. I originally planned to get the knot out and replace it with like sized knot. However, as luck would have it my dremel tool slipped and I gouged a good bit of the top of the handle. This discouraged me for a minute and then I had an idea to chop down below the gouge and widen the mouth for a 28mm knot. This would be the choice to lead to my most awesome restore ever in my opinion! Here are before and after pics with a 22mm ER for scale on just how big it looks. I know most of you have or have seen 30mm+ sized knots but this is my first over 24mm and I think I'm in love with the giant knots now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice job on the Ever-Ready, it looks good with the Maggard knot. It actually looks good with it "shortened" down.
Good save! Vintage brushes tend to smaller knots, but your modification looks like it was made that way.
You said first knot over 24, what size did you install? Nm 28mm I missed it! Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Really looks great; I'm normally not a big fan of knots over 25mm, but your looks like it's bursting forth ready to make an awesome lather! I also like that the Ever Ready says "Nylon" and you installed a Synthetic knot; very appropriate. I may have to pick one up some time.
Now Im not as worried about trying to bore one out to make a fatty for my wife. Not sure the one I have is the right one but you have inspired me sir! Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
The blue one? I was just thinking for legs my wife my benefit from a bigger knot. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
