Thought I'd posted here about the Falcon but maybe not. I've been a member here for a number of years but don't post often (or at all) but mostly lurk when the razor bug bites. I've been watching a new SE project that I don't think has been mentioned here. The coverage has been spotty, from what I can tell. It's a stainless (maybee aluminum also, not sure) from Falcon Razors (www.falconrazors.com) . Not affiliated in any way with him (although I would like to be a test shaver). I thought the project might have stopped, but he's continuing on and it looks really promising to me. If nothing else it gives us all another choice in razors. He recently posted an update to his site (http://www.falconrazors.com/index.php/2 ... p-summary/). He's currently accepting applications for test shavers until 14 October. I'm posting this to a number of shaving-related sites to try to encourage him on, so if you see it again, that's why. If you've got a chance and an inclination to do so, please show some interest in the project. The more innovation/choices, the better for all of us.
I'm not sure what the hold up is, it seems other people who venture into bringing a new razor into the market do so. Maybe he's more open? I don't know, I do hope everything works out and the Falcon becomes a reality.
I've been following his updates with great interest over the past couple of months or so. As you say - more options can never really bad a bad thing.
I read his entire blog. I like the look of the razor, but his constant use of italics meant I ended up reading it in the mental voice of a really effeminate gay guy. You know...one of those people. They just can't help themselves. I don't know if it's an affectation or what, but it doesn't come across as professional. Still, if he can make a good single edge razor that takes de blades, I'll buy it. However, since it's just another take on a Feather Artist Club SE bladed razor, I'll pass.
I had a chance to chat with him for an email interview. He lives in Europe, so that might explain the italics for emphasis? As far as the razor, from my understanding it is only the head unit that is being designed and sold.
I think I recall seeing a post about him considering making a handle as well. I do agree with previous posts that this is maybe a less 'professionally' presented development than what we're often used to see on Kickstarter, etc - but then again - it's one guy sitting around trying to create something on his own. I can't help but to think if I could do it a whole lot better myself. I'm curious to see what he ends up with in the end.
