I hope this isn't a rehash of a former post, but I thought it would be fun to share some of our family traditions. I'll start. Today my wife, daughter and I seeded and juiced 2 bags of pomegranates and will make our yearly jelly. It tends to go out at Christmas as gifts. The other tradition I have is every year my daughters and I go to Knotts Scary Farm or Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios in Hollywood. So let's hear yours.
On Christmas Eve, my husband likes to decorate the tree. We also read to each other from "A Visit from St. Nicholas." On Chanukah we sing the bruchas (blessings) with help from my monkey puppet. Tucker, who likes to sing along.
Tamales on Christmas Eve. Recently our large gingerbread house has been staying up year 'round as well.
Well my family tradition is to argue and bicker about the silliest things. It is mainly due to my mom who is Greek and a touch errr excitable!
I'm afraid we don't have many traditions that I am aware of, apart from eating fresh bread rolls at breakfast every Saturday morning.
Mmmmmm I cant wait for my Jelly in the post. I have a small family so nothing happens no religious beliefs etc.... The GF is Polish and Christmas eve is a big deal for Her/Them, NO eating meat, making food ready for that day and Christmas day terrine, fish, salad, (I help her and enjoy it so I cant complain,) I will take a pic at Christmas time so you know what I mean.
My mom is from Puerto Rico. We celebrate Christmas and open presents on Christmas Eve. We eat turkey, roast pork, arroz con gandules, pie, and mofongo. But we also celebrate Three Kings Day, which falls on Jan. 6th every year. That holiday is a bigger deal in Puerto Rico than Christmas is. Kids wake up on the morning of the 6th and find presents under their beds. You can also find candy and other small things in your shoes. If I ever have kids, that's something I will pass on.
