The patent for the Tech asserts: "its general object is to provide a construction in which sheet metal may be utilized as distinguished from the solid swaged or machined constructions heretofore used. . . . . " Techs were first to be stamped AFAIK.
I'm not sure if they were all stamped though, my UK Flat Bottom I can't tell, the bottom plate is certainly thicker.
the flat bottom appears stamped with a thicker material. the new hybrid and rfb are swaged/machined. looks like the u.s. were first to the post with the stamping process.... very cool.. i think the u.s. made civilian prewars for longer due to the war starts being different.. i could be very wrong however...
Yep merely a quirk of Canadian production, best guess is simply that it reflects the slotted blade and corner reinforcement patent granted the New and carried over to the Tech. Definitely had nothing to do with the Tech itself, patent for which didn't get applied for until 1938. .
