So got a fat boy coverd in soap goo and read a thred on cleaning, after cleaning i thought why not buff it up a little. All went well now i have something greeting me that i had a hand in making look better. All thanks to The Den and the great people that take time to post info. B ps the two feather reflection pics are one of each side.
old polish used old polish in a baby jar my dad gave me it is blue don't know where it came form and old elbow grease. cleaned with scrubbing bubbles and tooth brush. Cheers B
Trying to find name Will let you know if i can find the name have to call sister. will get back to you. B
Sounds like it could have been Flitz polish that your dad put in baby jar from a larger container. Flitz is good for many, many things, even cleaning gun barrels (no it will not degrade the barrel) to polishing the keys on a clarinet. Even polishes plexi Glass.
Also a nice way to shine some metal is with a smooth tooth paste make sure to rinse well after, and polishing compound not rubbing compound is a good way to bring some lust out also.
I use Flitz all the time - I love that stuff! It is great for taking out minor scratches off of a cell phone screen.
Looks GREAT! Speaking of polishing, has anyone used a buffing wheel and some jewelers rouge? I haven't seen any mention of it on here and thought I may give it a try.
I would think a buffing wheel would be far too aggressive.. and would likely do more harm than good..
hmm Buffing I used filtz that was the blue stuff in a jar and i know it is mild. just a little dab on finger tip i rub till it is black then wipe it off buff to shine. repeat until shined up. I have a buffer on a dremel type tool will give it a shot on my 1.00 stainless bowl and post back to you and the thread soon. B
Beautiful and love to see that red click and black numbers; nice shiny head means that it was used very little.
Lost might be longer than i thought lost the buff head for my dremel type motor. so will have to get a new one later. B
I hadn't thought about using the Dremel! I was thinking about a full size polishing wheel. I think I might just give my Dremel a shot with a little jeweler's rouge.
