Hello, I am looking for a nice Bay Rum soap, I have a couple but really don't like the clove scent of some of them. Are there some nice Bay Rum soaps out there without the clove scent? The stronger the scent the better for me. How is Mama Bears? anyone try HBS Bay rum? These are the next couple to try on my list. Thanks!
I like the Ogallala but the lather is non existent. Not having clove scent is going to be a problem. This is what I've tried. QED or TGQ might be an option for you. I'll have to confirm how strong the clove scent is. Col. Conk Bay Rum Shave Soap Em's Place Em's Glycerin Bay Rum Shave Soap Honey Bee Spa Bay Rum Shave Soap Mama Bear Marauder's Citrus Bay Rum & Tangerine Shave Soap Ogallala Bay Rum Soap Ogallala Bay Rum, Lime & Peppercorn Soap Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar Shave Soap QED QEDman Bay Rum Shave Soap The Gentlemen's Quarter Bay Rum w/Sweet Orange Shave Soap
Wow Rich, You have a Huge Bay Rum selection, Thanks for the help and suggestions. I have TGQ and one other at home and they are either clovey or faintly scented. I'll have to check later. Thanks!!
The Gentleman's Quarter, Bay Rum and Orange. As for Mama Bears Marauders, it smells like Sunny D to me.
all pure Bay Rum soaps bother my skin:mad:                       I absolutely hate it! I've yet to try some of the mixed Bay Rum scent soaps (Marauder's citrus, BR w/a twist soap, BR & orange etc). i have a feeling these might irritate my skin too. The best option I have is to: 1. charge my brush with a little BR soap ( usually a crappy Old Dominon BR soap - this soap sucks at lathering, and smells great. I dont have the heart to trade it ). Add a lime shaving cream to create a BR w/a twist superlather 2. Charge my brush with the crappy BR soap, and add some unscented MB soap.
Sorry Ed, thats unfortunate. I think that the soaps with pure bay oil are highly astringent, and that's possibly what is bothering your skin. You have the right idea diluting them with a cream for superlather
The only one I've ever had the chance to try was Col. Conk, which I hear isn't very "bay rummy." (But I still like it.)
I have; HBS Bay Rum Suzie Bubbles Bay Rum (toned down I'm told) Ogallala Bay Rum (Great scent, but poor lather, add KMF unscented and :drool ) Of the three I have, I like the scent and performance of the HBS best. But if you add KMF unscented to the Ogallala....that's a close call. I'll be getting another bay rum or two from Doc in my grab bag, or so I'm told.
Does any of youse know of a Triple Milled BayRum Soap ? Ive been looking aroung a bit but havent been able to find one.
7 year old thread resurrection but certainly a good topic! Are you able to make a comparison of the Razorock CC with the intensity of the CC Bay Rum A/S scent? Does it smell just like the CC A/S or is it a bit different? (Just curious) I've been looking at some Bay Rum soaps but have only purchased a sample from Stirling, so far. I've been wanting to try the Captain's Choice (not the Razorock) but I've read where some didn't think the scent was strong enough. That has caused me to wait a while and see if the Capt'n reformulates anymore. I didn't care for the CC Bay Rum A/S when I first got it, but it has recently grown on me. Anyone tried the CC Bay Rum shave soap?
Yes. It has a terrific CC scent. The lather is good. I think that Mike's is better, as well as MW--although Michelle's Bay Rum is atypical.
Ogallala Bay Rum shave stick is one of my favorites. No cloves scent but relatively strong scent non the less. It lathers like a champ for me.
OP hasn't been seen here at TSD in 3 years, so I assume he's found his BR soap of choice by this time.
