Although I rarely shave with a double edge blade I have been tempted to buy a slant. I used one once in a pass-around and enjoyed it. With The Shave Den getting ready to close down, I thought I should hop over to this forum to see what the experts suggest before it is too late.

Please let me know your thoughts on the best slants to consider and what blades you pair them with.

    :thanks:

    In order of increasing mildness:
    The new ATT S1
    The Muhle R37
    The Ikon X3

Pretty much any blade, depending on how aggressive you like your razors.

The ATT S1 is stellar with whatever blades you currently like.

+1 on the ATT S1 Slant. I’ve got the open and closed comb plates for this beautiful Slant razor. I personally prefer open combs and Love Slants.
That said, the ATT S1 is a bit pricey at 200 bucks. I absolutely love my open comb Fatip Lo Storto Slant in brass gold. This cost about 40 bucks and well worth it imo. I always get close to BBS with this razor with very little irritation. Theres lots of talk in the various forums about blade alignment issues with the Fatip but I’ve had no issues with that. Until I got the S1, the Lo Storto was my favorite razor and I still do love it. (theres also the Il Picolli Fatip Slant which has the same head as the Lo Storto with a thinner and shorter handle if you prefer that)
Paa’s monster slants are another good option for a 1st Slant. My plastic monster open comb blue phantom slant for less than 30 bucks is nice, shaves great, and a lot of fun to shave with. I’ve also got the Yaqi TORQX which is an adjustable slant and the SR71 Slant from the Holy Black which is good too! As you’ve probably surmised, I love slants and open combs and especially open comb slants! I’m still searching for that elusive open comb adjustable slant with an adjustment dial. Paa markets their open comb monster slants as twist adjustable by loosening the handle but I havent found one yet with an explicit adjustment dial.

I almost forgot, I’ve also got the RazorRock Super Slant with an L1++Open Comb Baseplate as well as an L2++OC and a just recently ordered L3++OC plate which I should be receiving any day now from Italian Barber.

and the Merkur 37c slant …
    and the german 37 slant…
and a Yaqi ‘most aggressive’ Slant base-plate that I purchased for about 9 bucks on Ali-express…
and on and on it goes…

On a different subject, a website called ‘simpsonshavingbrushes.com’ is selling the Simpsons Chubby 2 Super ‘Silver-tip’ for 126 gbp which equates to about 167 bucks!! , shipping and taxes included! Could this be for real? Thats more than half of what it costs from the US at least in all the places I’ve seen. I think that website is direct from the Isle of Man where they make them. I’m so close to pulling the trigger on this and the only thing stopping me is an old saying that keeps repeating in my head about when something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
