Weight and Balance: This is a very lightweight razor, which was good for me when I was beginning DE shaving. As time went on I found that I wanted to try something heavier and ended up buying a Feather 3 piece tech clone. The weight makes a huge difference! So- its weight was a plus in the beginning and a minus once I had some experience.

    Blade exposure: Worked for me.

Ease of use: This is a twist to open razor, which was important to me when I was looking for a DE two years ago. At the time, this was the only modern DE under $100 that I could find. So it's very easy to load the blade, and it's a very forgiving shaver.

    Grip Worked for me.

Price: sells for $20 + shipping and handling at various sites. You can get something much better for that price via ebay, or kick in ten more dollars and you can get a Merkur two piece. Consider buying if you're a newbie who needs a very mild, easy to use razor.

Newbie Using Feather Double-Edge "Popular" Razor

I must say to start, that I like this razor.:)

I now know what everyone means by short strokes, NO-PRESSURE and go slow.:o

After finishing shaving, I did notice that I got a closer, better shave than with my Gillette Fusion.

As with all newbies using a DE razor, I did manage a couple of nicks, nothing bad though.:o

As for the razor, even though a first time try, I did notice that the razor needs a little more heft to it. I let the weight of the razor do the work for me; it worked fine but I think it could be a little weightier to help with pressure against the skin.

Along with this razor, I used Edge ActiveCare Deep Hydrating Shave Cream (moisturizing and lubricating).

Next-up in my rotation/arsenal are the other two new DE razors by Merkur: HD and Futur.

    Stay tuned fellas!:D

This is a very nice well thought out razor. I think some people think its a mild razor because they are not holding it at a sharp enough angle. There is a lot of bar so you have to do this in order to get a BBS shave. I got mine for $17.99 which included shipping.

Overall a very nice addition to my rotation.

Best razor i tried so far.

Whit all the DE razors i tried so far, and i tried many,
i came to the conclusion that this one is the best.
    The reason, very simple:
1-It gives you good irritation free shaves.
2-A beginner could use it since it's not an aggressive razor.
3-It's a forgiving razor, i mean if you lack of concentration u won't get cut.
    4-Cheap cost
    5-Beautifull looking razor.
But whit that razor you need to had an extra pass.

This is key advice, thanks. I broke out the Popular after letting it sit for two years. First shave was way too mild by holding it at the ends like I would a Krona. Adjusted the angle and held it closer to the head-------> Excellent Shave....
