Alright guys I've been wet shaving for about a year and a half now.. I think it's time for me to finally upgrade from the walgreens brush that was PIF'd to me.. For a year I only used a cheap walgreens soap and arko shave sticks.. I'm finally using good soaps and stuff and I believe the next step is to get a brush.. But the question is which one?? I'm not using any creams yet so i'll cross that bridge when I get there lol So I need a great soap brush with a limit of about $60 ( give or take ) So let me know what you guys think.

Well, you will need to decide if you want a boar brush or a badger brush. And then you can go from there. There really isn't any such thing as a soap brush or a cream brush. Some brushes will be easier to lather with creams and some with soaps, but you can make lather with any brush using any cream or soap; it just may take a little time to work out how much water and so on and so forth. I am not very well versed in the brush category as I just bought my first couple of nice brushes within the last month, so I will let others comment on specific models. Good luck with your search!

I'd go with an Omega boar or the Target badger. Both will be light years ahead of the VDH brush your currently using and you'll only have to spend 10-15 dollars.

I would also recommend an Omega Boar, I personally love my 48.

I would have jumped all over that brush if I hadn't just bought the Colonel.

Quite a few people love the Vulfix 404. The Duke D2 is my next holy grail - I have the Simpsons berkeley now and love their quality.

I'm might be able to pull a duke 3 or a chubby 1 for a pretty good price from another forum.. I might get the vulfix though if I can't swing those

Not a bad deal then as long as it's from a reputable seller :)

Looks like I have permission to do more brush shopping too. The wife's Fendrihan Best Badger is shedding like there is no tomorrow (20+ hairs today at least)...

I'd look at Shaving Brushes on eBay. Think your next step should be some 10to15$ badger or boar brushes. Start a small rotation of brushes 4-5 and see what each has to offer with the various soaps. This shave site gives you an choice of samples to pick from. A great way to go!
