And it was fantastic! Presoaked everything with hot water during the shower. Lathered up with some C.O. Bigelow and went to it. This has been my best shave yet. I thoroughly enjoyed using the Muhle R89 and feel like I got a closer shave than with my Gillette Knack, though it may be because my technique is getting better. I did enjoy the way the razor felt, the weight and it just felt smoother if that makes sense. Finished up with warm to cold rinse then some Proraso aftershave.
Yeah, with only my experience between the 2, the R89 is more aggressive it seems. I'll roll with this razor for a while and see where it takes me. It may be that I prefer more aggressive razors - only time and experience will tell. I'm enjoying it all so far!
I have the Edwin Jagger 89L same head different handle, great razor, nice looking as well. Congrats on the better shave.
You may not ever need another razor. I love my 89 and use it as much as my R-41 lately. I shimmed it recently, making a schoshe more aggressive, and that raised it's standing with me. Such a good razor, shim or no. I'm glad you liked it!
