Aye mates, for many years this shipmate stood the watch... While some of us lay about at night, this shipmate stood the watch... While others of us were attending schools and, yes, even before some of us were born, this shipmate stood the watch... As our families watched the storm clouds of war brewing on the horizons of history, he stood the watch... Often he would look ashore and see his family needed his guidance, but he knew he must stay because, he had the watch... For many years he stood the watch so that we and our fellow countrymen could sleep soundly in safety knowing that this sailor would stand the watch. Today we are here to say... "The watch stands relieved..." Relieved by those you have led, guided, and trained... Shipmate "You stand relieved... We have the watch."
Thanks Will. It's good to see traditions continue, we seem to lose more of them every year. Don't blink Brother -- before you know it you too will be in the check of the month club Luckily I don't have to travel too far for my next job. I wrangled a nice GS job at the shop next door. I even get to keep my parking space. Just wont have to don the ODU's. Thanks again. Bravo Zulu
Congrats, Chris. My dad did that back in the 1950s. Got out after his stint in the Army and went right back as a DA civilian. Retired a GS 12 after 30 years.
Clear sailing ahead Chris. Moonlit waters, Porpoises in the wake. A bell tolls, Headings we make. You've stood the watch, You've manned the deck. You've sailed the seas. From here to heck. Welcome home, Welcome home.
