Forgot how manly I looked with a beard

You heard that right. A beard.

roughed my face up pretty good last shave and decided to take a break for a few days.

I'll probably shave, but this Paul Bunyon/lumberjack style beard is working out for me. Forgot how manly it made me look and feel. You guys know that manly feeling, when you're camping and you've just started a fire without a match or lighter. Or perhaps when you've just rebuilt and installed a carburetor(while not so popular today, I'm sure some of you old timers can remember) and the car fires up perfectly the first time.

And with the feminization of Western-Society, the beard may be the last bastion of true manliness.

You sound like a good candidate for a goatee.

Personally, if I go more than two days without a complete shave, I feel lousy :D

3 days and my family and friends are begging me to shave it off. I already look like a balding Sasquatch without adding to the image. :D

Personally, I preferr the clean shaved look. I like to be able to stroke my chin and feel nothing what so ever.

seamus402 You don't mess with Big Slim

chin fur here and connected soul patch - no mustache therefore does not qualify for goatee.

I have a full goatee(Van Dyke). My GF loves it.

No no, a goatee has no mustache. Prepare for a facial hair lesson my friends-

This is a Goatee. Notice the lack of mustache.

The Soul Patch is a variation of the Goatee.

The Van Dyke is the Goatee plus mustache.

Oh and here's an insider... I'm 21 and I've had several ladies my age (you older fellas better read carefully :rofl ) tell me that Van Dyke's look nice, and that Goatees/Soul Patches look weird without the mustache.

    Van Dyke for the win!

Ha, I've thought about the Van Dyke. But nah, it's all or nothing for me. If I'm growing a beard it's gonna be a full lumberjack style beard.

A beard may not be a bad idea for the winter... hate being clean shaven on those sub-20 degree and very windy days.

I like Steven Wright's(one of my fave comedians) beard- http://cache.viewimages.com/xc/1549...7D9939C83F106493C0954462A0C445A5397277B4DC33E

I am now informed that I wear a Goatee. I use to think it was a mustache less goatee.....but i have now been informed :)

I usually stop shaving when all the leaves are off the trees, and start again when the tips of the branches turn green.
But that was all before wetshaving.

I have no problem with a beard. I have had several. My problem is the in between period that is all itchy and irritating. I have had many, many forms of facial hair, having always dreaded the shave (the pre-DE wetshave days). I had a soul patch, goatee, Van dyke, mustache, mutton chops and a full beard. Of course, I played saxophone and harmonicas in a band, so outrageous facial hair was the order of the day, "cause the chicks digged it." (or so I allowed myself to believe). Life was such an easy game to play, wasn't it?

While looking around at information about beards and beard styles, I found this pretty interesting-

I have had two go-arounds with beards in my life, grown in part because I did not like shaving. The first was in my late teens and early twenties., back in the hairy seventies. Man, I shudder when I think of that. The second was in the mid-eighties, and I had that one for almost 10 years. I had completed a diet and had lost a bunch of weight and since I was changing the way I looked, the beard fit. I also hated shaving because I hacked up my face.

When I decided to shave off the second beard, I went to a barber shop to have the barber trim down the beard to shave off. He asked if I wanted him to shave it and I said ok. He gave me an excellent shave, my first with a straight razor. I felt like a million coming out of that shop, which is sadly no longer in business.

No, I don't like the feeling of stubble and I can't wait to get up and shave. Smooth, nick and irritation free. Life is good.

I no longer have a beard screaming to get out.

You are mistaken Sir! That goat is obviously incognito for a super secret mission for "the brotherhood of the ruminants"!

Took a whif of Provence Sante this morning and it was settled... I shaved my future beard.

It was a real good one too... reminds me why I like to stay clean shaven.

You can always grow it back, Kevin. Go for it! I grow a beard every winter. Have almost 6 weeks worth of growth now. And I still enjoy splashing on some bay rum, or some Aqua Velva in the morning. I really like traditional shaving, but I also like growing my traditional winter beard.
