So while shopping for my AV today, I came across a brown box of English Leather AS. I don't know much about it, other than the color of the box, and it was double the cost of all the other AS. Has anybody used it? Is it any good?
I liked it. It didn't like me. was great in the bottle but reacted badly with my skin. Terrible smell on me.
I used it back in high school. I graduated in 1980! I don't mind the scent but my wife does. Rule in our house when it comes to AS or cologne is we both have to like it. Makes for better sleeping arrangements
Can't tell if you're talking about a vintage box of (I think) MEM E.L. but if so, it's got more going on than current versions do.
I had a bottle of English Leather back in high school back in the 1970's and I recall liking it. The scent was quite pleasant. I only went through one bottle and never used it again. Of course, it was a gift and I couldn't afford to buy a bottle on my own. Beer money, or aftershave... It was a tough choice.
When I was in 7th grade I had a huge crush on an 8th grader who wore English Leather. Looking back, not sure if I liked him or the way he smelled more lol!
I have a bottle of the cologne in my rotation. It brings back memories of my high school days. Us old dudes were raised on English Leather, British Stirling and Brute.
$24 for the set, $8 for a seperate bottle. The proprietor said the vendor would only come down 10%. I know nothing about vintage aftershaves, so here's some pics.
The set is definitely older (early 1980s?) but it's a tossup on price. To some, it would be worth that...even if I wore nothing but E.L., I don't think I could go over $15 and I doubt I'd go that high. It's just not that rare (yet). I still have the big, unusual coach lamp bottle full, and it'll last me until I go in the box. That last bottle appears to be the new stuff which can be bought many places for less than $8.
