I only have the Lamy 2000. Mine's a great pen but I understand the nibs can be hit and miss on them. I got the extra fine nib and it has a fairly small sweet spot but as long as you're on it, it's an incredibly smooth writer.
My experience as a lefty; the clip on the VP gets in the way. The Lamy 2000 is very comfortable for me.
I have a couple of Lamy Safari pens. Good pens for the money. Make sure and get a converter so you can try out different inks.
I had looked into, just never pulled the trigger on a kit. I don't know enough people who know what they are doing to get into it either.
I have four - red, yellow, blue and the charcoal you show. Like @Troy M said, get a converter so youcan have fun trying different ink colors.
They look good, but how is the quality? I get if you have 4, they must be doing something right. I meant the balance and weight in the hand, does it feel like you are holding a pen or is it plasticky? =P(I know that's not a word) It actually comes with 1-2 cartridges and 1 converter. So it good in that front
Im just looking right now too. I recently bought a Jinhao 159. And I really love it. I have a cartridge in it now, when it's done I have a bottle of black ink to try it with. Some kind of "Camel" ink haha from India.
It is a good stout pen that feels good in the hand. It doesn't feel cheap, or to use your word, plasticy.
@Omelmad I ended up with 2 Safari and 2 Alstar from Lamy. I would only suggest that you consider a M nib or pay an extra $10 and get a 1.1 mm stub nib. The F nib for me always seemed a little scratchy but the M is smooth and the stub gives a bit more line variation.
