This is a fairly inexpensive stainless steel straight razor. It's decent enough for what it is, but obviously not as good as its carbon steel counterparts from years gone by. Still, if you're on a budget, it's a good tool to have in rotation.
Where was the razor made? I cannot find anywhere they are sold, that says that. It does have a Gold Dollar shape to it. For $15 on Amazon, I guess it is worth a try. How many shaves did you get from it, before you realized it needed re-honing?
I don't know where it was made, but I assume China or some other country where it's ridiculously cheap to make stainless steel razors. I typically hone after each shave, and just prior to shaving as it's usually a long time between shaves.
