    Good Afternoon to everyone, I recently bought a GEM micromatic razor off of eBay. Could anyone advise me as to where I may buy blades ie: cvs, walgreens? Thank you.

    This is a tough one as I have gone through it too. Walgreens does carry some that are supposedly stainless steel under the renewal? name. Cvs has them under their brand name bit they are supposedly carbon steel. If you have time and want to order the gem coated stainless are supposed to be pretty good.

    CVS, Walgreens, Rite-Aid. They should all carry them if you need blades immediately. If not, order them online for sure (better deals).

    Most drug stores will have them and they may be the packaged as a store brand. If on the back it says Made in Korea it will be Dorco; Made in USA will be ASR (American Saftey Razor).
    I find the ASR blades to be much better than Dorco.

    Enjoy your micromatic. Be sure to stay from the box cutter blades.

    So - along the same lines - for a SE razor newbie - are the Treet ones the way to go?
    I don't think there are anywhere to buy a SE sampler pack...

    On Amazon I can see the following that looks interesting;
    - Gem Personna 10 pack for 4.22
    - Treet 10 pack for 3.75
    - Gem blue star 5 pack for 3.50
    - Red Devil 100 for 9.99

    I know blades are highly YMMV but is there one or two brands that most people seem to like regardless of price?

    Treets or GEM (or the Ted Pella stainless) are the most often talked about. I find they each work best on certain razors. I don't like the Treets on a 1912 but they are fantastic on the ER 1924 and the Micromatic. The GEMs suck on the MM and are good on the 1924, very good on the 1912 (FOR ME). Just try them and see what works for you.

    I think the Red Devil ones are hardware store blades...

    I'll be using them on both a 1901 lather catcher as well as a 1912. I may try the GEMs first then.

    Any particular version of the GEMs that works well or are they all the same?
    I see, on Amazon;
    - GEM Personna, and
    - GEM Blue Star.

    Gem by Personna is stainless steel. GBS is carbons- they should be like the Treets considering they are from the same manufacturer.

    Thanks, I read up on some on-line reviews and it seems like the GEM SS PTFE coated ones are very highly rated.
    A 50 pack would had been $20.10 (incl shipping and taxes) from razorbladesandmore, and
    A 30 pack was $10.71 from Connaught (incl. shipping and taxes).

    So, Connaught it was :)

    It IS kinda sad thought that I am IN the US...buying a product MADE in the US..and the cheapest option for me to buy it..is outside of the US.

    (And...well..since I was there shopping ANYWAY...I felt I needed to add some 3P shave soap as I've heard really good things about it...) :D

    Thanks for the recommendations! :)

    I love that razor and have several Gems, mmoc, clog pruf. I use the CVS blades, they are carbon and will rust if you dont dry them after shaving but they (for me) are wicked sharp and smooth. Again for me, the stainless varities arent as smooth.
    CVS is the onlg place I can find the carbon blades.

    I have some in route from there too. Let us know how your experience goes with those blades.

    Haven't tried them yet...but will tomorrow :)
    The blades arrived really fast...maybe 7 days or so.
