hey everyone, i'm sure this topic has more than likely been done before, but i've only just joined and there were loads of pages all with different topics, so this is probably me just being lazy and asking rather than looking sorry. anyway, whenever i have a shave (in the morning whilst in the shower) my skin looks perfect, however once its all cooled down and what not, you can still see where stubble is, (kinda looks like i've had a shave but not a good one) and you see other people walking around with no traces of stubble on their face at all! so i was wondering whether anyone has any tips on how to achieve this "baby face" look Thanks in advance Chris
I also shave IN the shower..I have very sensitive skin so plenty of moisture and warm water helps alot...try with a fogless mirror and try a heavier razor like a Slant 37c or Redtip Gillette TTO razor ST
"Phantom stubble" is what it's been referred to in the past. There was a thread on it several weeks back but I don't know where. Some of us have thicker, denser, darker beards than others. I'm in your boat. Even after a fresh, close shave, you can still see the pores where the hair grows. It's just a difference between some of us.
Count me in. Even after BBS shave I have that 'shadows' when you can see dark areas but can never feel the stubble, because all you can see actually is under the skin. So we just live with it! :happy102
Are you feeling stubble, or just see shadows of stubble? If you're just seeing it, I have no clue, other than cover up make up if it bothers you that much. Not something that I would do, but you do what you feel you have to. If you're feeling stubble, what are you using? What's your prep and post shave routine?
:sihns011 'Shadows' are just there, covered by makeup (anyone does even that?! ) or not, but if you can feel scratchy stubble - that's just a poor shave that needs an improvement!
As a rule, I see a slight, slight shadow after most of my shaves with my DE, because my beard stubble is very black. If I rub my hand along my face, it feels very smooth most of the time. If I use my straight, there is NO shadow at all after my shave.
Jeff used to have one straight, a Bismarck I believe, but I never saw a straight user so in love with one razor. Usually straight users build up a arsenal of different kinds of razors they get addicted to collecting quick but Jeff's way was different.
I also believe Jeff has.. 2 DEs only, and mastered' em! That's the example of a true love to certain items! Very true for 'building the arsenal'. I begun straight shaving a month ago but already dreaming of a second straight
I have only the Dovo Bismarck, which I am indeed in love with, but now it is so rare that I shave with it, because or I lost my guts to, or because I became so used to shaving with my Super Speed DE. With the razor and the brush, I am very conservative--I don't have the patience (or the cash) to be buying all of different kinds. The only things I accumulate en masse are creams, soaps, aftershaves and fragrances.
Dmitry, I wish so much I can say I am a master, but I am just a plain and simple of a wetshaver! :ashamed001
My friend, when you tell such things, I always thinking of a joke I said you ones.. 'Never fight with the old man! If he is too old to fight, he might just kill you, intead of beating up...'
