I have a D4 from the fourth quarter of 58'. It was my grandfather who acquired the razor doing copper work on the Gillette building in Boston. He passed it down to my father who used it and the tradition followed. This razor was a great first DE because it is very forgiving. My first use with another razor was a Merkur and the difference in aggressiveness was a shock. Never any razor burn with a fatboy but a smooth shave will cost you a little extra time.
