The seller said it wasn't used. But the plastic head cover is missing and so are the blades and instructions and warranty card. So my guess is it has seen a few uses (but practically brand new).
Great find, Saw it there on ebay but did not get a chance to Bid. Not sure what it went for or what top dollar it would max out at looking at the small amount of bidders.. I have a set myself complete with serial 1333. There are more of these sets out there than collectors think. My gillette factory production book shows 4,555 were made by the end of 1956 November 20th. I know of some collectors who have horded a dozen or so. There are alot of other Vintage gillette ajustables 1957-60 that are very super scarce. But this one is always a great one to have in ones collection for sure. Enjoy!

I have been looking for one outside of the complete set i have, I an keeping mine for another situation close to my family. but looking for a dear friend of mine who lost his complete set overseas on business travel. He and i have been on the hunt part time for 6 + years now and have come up dry! He does not know i am still looking for him which is good because, i want it to be a surprise. His complete 56 toggle was given to him by his grandfather just before he passed. It meant alot to him for sure! So i am looking when i can. If any memebr knows of one of these 56 toggle sets complete or is thinking of parting with one please P.M. me. Great web site for all into wet shaving i love it!

Your "friend" took his ULTRA rare grandfather gifted complete 56 Toggle set on an overseas trip. If true, he is not a real sharp one now is he? All sounds a bit fishy to me.
