We just had a fairly long thread on mild razors and it made me realize that I have an extra Blue Tip Super Speed that I really don't need. It's a C1 (first quarter of 1957 - this model was made from 1955-1960) and while certainly not mint, it's clean, shiny and it's been sanitized. It does have a few small areas of missing plating - I think - on one safety bar and one end cap but there is hardly any wear on the blue painted tip, and overall it would make a fine shaver. As most of us know, the Blue Tip was sold by Gillette as a mild razor, and it has a lighter weight aluminum handle along with a nickel plated brass head with a smaller blade gap than the regular Flare Tip or Red Tip. Ideally I'd like this to go to a newbie, or to someone who has never tried a vintage Gillette, so if you already own a bunch of vintage razors I'd ask you to please pass on this one. Anyway, drop me a line, and within a week or so I'll select someone and send the razor off to them.
Never tried a Blue Tip Flare, but I have other Flare's (though I would dearly enjoy one) so I will pass. I guess, not in. Great PIF and God bless.
That is a nice one. I have a nice one as well. It is a good shaver. I hope just the right person gets this razor.
I guess I'm the first to say I'm in. I'm still a newbie and haven't tried any vintage Gillette flare tip razors. Thank you for the opportunity. Great pif! Sent from my LG-H873 using Tapatalk
It's a beauty and will be a fantastic razor for someone. Thanks for your generosity and best of luck to all who enter.
Well, the PIF is done and if I have learned one thing it's that it's not easy to choose a candidate. If I do another one - and I probably will - then I'll just pick someone at random, but for this one @montieg was the first person to respond and we had a nice dialog via private messages in this forum and he seemed the perfect candidate for it. So, as of a few hours ago the Blue Tip is on its way to the Great Frozen North, i.e. Canada. Thanks to all who responded.
