All I know is, if the Muhle R41 is considered "aggressive", I wonder what this 1912 Old Type would be? :D

some consider these early old types quite aggressive.poor word, but they are meant for the 3 hole blades.many folks love and use them ,a light touch is required compared to the newer ones.i don't use my old types very often but i get good shaves with them since my technique got better..:)..some folks think it's the best gillette produced..

That was my intended question: Of all safety razors, what might be considered the most "Efficient" to the "Least Efficient"? :)

couldn't tell you to be honest.but here is a general thought on gillettes.blue tip mildest, red tip most efficient for the ttos, any adjustable on 9 ,tech mildest, new rfb most efficient for 3 piece.old type /new improved most efficient.it's kind of like "what is the best tire"..all razors after the old type were mods in design to accommodate blade design eventually getting cheaper to save production costs.they played with different efficiencies mostly during the 50s.before that it was poor man, working man and rich man versions.beyond that is where the different opinions kick in..:D.one guy will say he likes this one more and so on.remember these are just blade holders that allow certain amounts of blade exposure and angle.the more blade showing that's being held ridgidly, the more efficient.things like blade flex and chatter were problems for tough beards on some early models.stuff i have read about..etc..

And note that Gillettes generally (can of worms noted) tended to be on the milder side compared to European makers especially before WW2. Go French for aggressive razors.
