looks awesome Jeff..glad you like it..do you think the older 3 hole blades would have worked in it? or would they crack..
Sticking with what's been giving great shaves. If it ain't broke - don't fix it! RFB #44 (3 piece) Lab Blue Dragonsbeard Heritage Collection Ever Ready w/ 26mm Quartermoon Thayers Lucky Old Man
I bought this Gillette last week and just got around to cleaning it up. What a difference! I used it this morning and it’s my new favorite! The shave is better than my Fatboy. $8
I don't think they would crack. The razors with the baseplate attached to the handle would be considerably safer to load. The 'spring' imparted by twisting a modern DE in a slant razor makes it just a bit more risky than loading a normal three piece razor. An even stiffer, thicker blade might be asking for trouble.
very cool, thank you Ryan.good to know....i had read somewhere that the new improved had issues with cracking blades, but not related to slants..
The blade issues stemming from the tendency for cap corners to be damaged in minor drops were exacerbated in the New Improved by additional blade stress caused by configuration of the fulcrum shoulders. Changes in the spacing of the shoulders mid production didn't really fix the problem. The corner cut outs and slots in the New blade were designed to address these issues.
