Last night I decided to use glycerine as a preshave treatment hoping that I would have the worlds best shave with a super slick surface and tons of cushion from my tobs cream.........boy was I dissapointed lol didnt notice any difference at all. My preshave of splashing hot water on my face lathering up and going to town won't be altered anytime soon
Glycerin (veg) does provide some lubricating benefits, but it is easily soluble in water. I now use it a part of a pre-shave treatment in mixture with castor and olive oils. The benefit of Glycerin is it tends to soften and moisturize the skin, but the viscosity of the other oils (especially the castor) is what gives your razor a good glide and your face additional protection.
Smeared it on my face like a preshave oil. I always see ppl ranting about glycerine and figured I'd give it a shot. I have a castor oil olive oil mix I might have to add glycerine to and try next
Uhhh.....well yeah, of course. I meant a more detailed description of what you did. Did you apply it to a wet face? Did you give it time to work? Did you wash it off or lather over it?
Ok, well preshave really needs a few minutes to work it's magic. The point of preshave is to soften the hairs. It can't do that instantly.
I use Glycerine many months in my face and in my bowl As for face lathering it's an excellent addition to my shaving especially when it's time for an aggressive Open Comb I highly recommend it.
