My daughter has a trip in the middle of June that I will be attending to Manhattan. I am planning of going a little early and stopping at Pasteur's. I am thinking of limiting myself to no more than 5 soaps. What would you recommend I get while I am there? Please be specific which 5 you would buy. It would be helpful to know that they carry the ones you suggest. Thanks
Can you open the soaps and smell them? I wasn't sure they would allow you to. With just the few photos I have seen of the shelves, there are so many brands and then each brand has so many scents, this is going to be hard. I already have 45 different soaps and I already want to try to get Saponificio Varesino in 70th and Sicilia if their scents strike me. Today's run with Caties' Bubbles Toinsorial Plus was amazing. Wasn't too much in love with the scent but the lather, slickness and post shave feel was amazing!! Might see if they have something less sweet in their Plus line. I am also dieing to see what B&M Adagio and Le Grand Chypre smell like. Currently have 6 B&M soaps on their way and might add a few of theirs depending on what's in the shop. Arctique and Night Music are also on my list to smell. Then there are all those other brands like L&L Grooming and Nuavia that are top tier that I have never tried even!!! you guys might just find me passed out in the soap isle with a big grin on my face. I need help!!!
Having been there a few times, the real problem will be not what to buy, but what not to buy. They seem to have everything and then some and especially for NY, the prices are within reason. And, they don't seem to mind if you take all day to make up your mind. But, do be aware (especially if you are claustrophobic) the aisles are very narrow and the shelves quite tall. You will be constantly moving to let someone pass you. So, my suggestion is go in with a set amount of cash that you do not want to go over with maybe a little buffer in case you find your unobtanium or something that you just have to have.
From what I see, They carry the following brands( please add to my list since I do not know all the containers) Castle Forbes, Truefitt and Hill, Cyril Salter, Trumpers, Royall, Arko, Speik, Cremo, Musgo Real, Proraso, Tabac, Jack Black, D.H. I updated the list by doing a photo search for Pasteur's and looking at their Facebook photos, I added so many others are added.
I'm an 85 minute train ride from there. One of these days I'm going! My credit card is gonna take a beating.
think about this. looking at the list of soaps and shaving products they carry and it would be a trip of a lifetime!!! You are almost guaranteed to find something there... if you do not pass out from soap overload!! I am already making a list of what I will be looking at to smell and possibly buy. Too many choices, too small a den.
