Thanks to a generous donation from @John Beeman I was fortunate to win a gold Schick Krona in the raffle. I believe this razor was sold in 1976 for the US bicentennial. It's in near-perfect condition and shows barely any sign of wear. I used it this morning, and IMO it edges out the Gillette Super Speeds of the same era (1960s-70s) in overall performance. If you like the Gillette TTO razors from this era, my guess is that you will like the Krona.
That was the conventional wisdom for a long time but the actual truth is it was sold in 1965 in a executive travel set called a '76 by a company called Tawn Limited. That particular gold plate Schick was far as I know never offered anywhere else except for this travel set There is a bunch of info there including pictures of the set and dated paper inserts for it showing the 1965 date. https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/schick-krona-de-timeline.62806/page-2
