I really don't have any aftershave except for a sample bottle I received with my razor. The choices are endless and some are fairly expensive. Are there any good aftershaves or shave balms that I can pick up locally? I don't want to smell like my grandfather, so I'm not sure about some of the typical stuff, but there are others that must be good. How is the Nivea? Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Not sure what Gpa smelled like, but Walgreens has a wide variety of aftershaves, some old some new, and most are very affordable.
I like Brut. So does my wife - BIG plus! Lots of love 'round here for Aqua Velva and Old Spice, just not from me.
Gillette Series Cool Wave is a drugstore A/S that has a nice fresh scent. Its pleasant and surprisingly, got a nod at Basenotes. Its around $5 at Walmart.
If you have a Dollar General around you, I would suggest Barbasol Pacific Rush. Besides that I mostly use Aqua Velva or Clubman BayRum. All can be had on the cheap.
+1 on the Brut! Ditto! Or, you could slap on some witch hazel to soothe the skin and leave it at that.
My favorite is skin bracer. Here in Canada we don't have the Clubman/Lustray range of products, and i find it's a good after shave for summer and also it smell pretty old school barbershop.
Ditto on the Skin Bracer Cooling Blue, but is is hard to find, so when I see it I buy a couple. Alan in AZ
+1 +1 +1 And to add my own and one I didn't see yet, unless I missed it, Murray & Lanman"s Florida Water. I haven't seen it in a drug store but it is VERY affordable and smells and works awesomely.
Adidas Pulse aftershave has a very fresh & young type of scent. You can find it at practically any Rite-Aid or Walmart.
I'm wearing it right now. Not my favorite but not unwearable. I don't mind smelling like Gpa though........
I used the Nivea balm for a little while. It's good. Not much of a scent, but it soothes the skin well. The Barbasol line is worth checking out. The Barbasol Blue (Pacific Rush), Green and Orange are all good. And you can pick them up for less than $2 US. Dollar General also markets a quality Brut knock off under the flag and sail label. Search for flag and sail on this board for specifics. Like the Barbasol line, you can pick it up for less than $2. My last bottle of the Brut knock off lasted me for something like six months, and I used it most every day.
My wife bought me a bottle of the Nivea Sensitive AS balm. I don't use it often, but I like it when I've gotten razor burn from my single edge razors or irritation from a DE blade that didn't work for me. It's a little expensive for me but I don't use it that often so I don't notice much. Good luck!
They don't make the Musk anymore, and the Brisk (Skin Bracer knockoff) is probably the better value scent wise, the Pacfic Rush is only good for the menthol blast. Heh I remember starting the PR movement when it first came out.
^I'm intrigued by the Cannabis Shave soap. Does it really smell like the real deal? On topic: Aqua Velva Ice Sport comes to mind. Just go to the dollar store and break a ten and try a few of the cheapie brands.
Not that I know or anything, but no it smelled more like Pinesol... I'm pretty sure she doesn't make it anymore.
