Well today I got wood. Went to see The Woodman: http://www.thewoodsman.net/ Came home with some goodies so I can get to making some brush stands and scales. I always enjoy going to see the Woodman (Warren Wise), always much to see and good conversation. Lots of information about wood. Here's some of the goods: Time to get to work me thinks...........
Wow, Sweet haul Dennis!! Looks like it was a good birthday, hopefully you didn't work to hard. Can't wait to see some of your new creations.
My favorite, of course, is the olive... then the chesnut... then the ebony. Lots of scales in there, my friend... lots of scales.
Oh yes, the olive. It has a very nice smell to it when you cut or sand it. Gotta love it, and yes.... it's the first one I reached for as I went to my little shop tonight. I'm just wondering if the palm will work for scales? But I really want to make scales from the pistachio... Mr. Wise told me not to let the saw dust from it mix with any other saw dust..... FIRE can start. Today has been fun and I'm spending time looking at the new woods deciding where I'll make my cuts. Kid in a candy store :rofl
I'll be turning the wenge into scales and brush stands. Just need to find more time for this. I really don't want to go to work tomorrow.
