What happens when you trust your Heljistrand SR to a guy that Sharpens Knives for a living He almost destroyed it completely on his wee little grinder I took off all the crap ass scratches from his belt grinder, fixed the heel then finessed a pretty darn even bevel back on there, yeah I am bragging Chosera 1-5-10 final finish on the test slate from Colorado

Just off the top of my head, if I wanted to spend $900 for a sharpening system, I would just get a full set of nice stones and pocket the difference... My 2 cents

I REALLY thought that was going to be the case, but I got no indications of it, was pretty surprised For those following along the most obvious indication is that the bevel is too soft to set, it will just fall apart as you get close.. The other indication is much more Swarf and very black in color then you normally see
This vid goes pretty far back in the archives of honing, it comes up now and then from a New Guy doing searches for "The Easy Way" to SR honing Everyone thinks there is some "Trick or Technique" we are not showing them LOL eventually they figure out it is just practice.. I have actually Sharpened a razor on plain ole Crock Sticks just to prove it can be done. We had one of these WE's at I think a Washington meet up, it works but it is basically a solution to a problem that doesn't exist if you learn to hone. We are seeing this more and more in our hobby still to this day.. 15 years ago when SR honing consisted only of the Pyramid Method and few if any Videos on You Tube this was more prevalent but now there are tons of instructional vids and even in person Skills meets .. As mentioned above Complicated and Expensive to solve the simple task of honing a SR, which has the angle guide built in with the spine I can forgive the WE guy for doing this vid years ago many didn't know what we know now People trying to take advantage of new guys today, with Rube Goldberg contraptions are unforgivable ps: The WE is AWESOME for knives, or
