I don't notice the dryness during and more and more consider the lack of scent a plus. Would love to know your better options within the same price range. If you're meaning things like Proraso and Cella, I consider them "better" perhaps but not as economical. One $12 purchase of Arko just might outlast me if it were my only soap.
What shave balms would you suggest trying in the traditional/budget arena? Nivea is all I've ever used.
I'll take the VDH over it any day of the week. Thick lather, slick, smells amazing. Locally available.
BTW cremo mixes nicely with Arko for a slick uber lather. It has salvaged my Arko tube. Also adds a nice citrusy clean scent.
I personally cannot answer that. I have several Stirling balms and Tabac, not exactly budget in price, but worth every penny IMHO
@BigCabDaddy I recently acquired the Stirling MITA balm and may I say it's excellent. Very moisturizing but also very healing which I find important. The cooling effect is a lovely bonus.
Nice! I may give it a shot. I have to admit that MWF post shave has ruined me for anything else. Truly, I think my RAD may be nearing an end. I could now select one razor, one blade, one soap, and three brushes that I could live with happily ever after. I could pick one aftershave too but wouldn't be happy about it.
Wilkinson shaving soap is 50% plus more in the States (compared to Canada). VDH is the quality soap in the States that's inexpensive.
I am starting seven days with Arko tomorrow. I like it. I also have about 18 other soaps that are looking for love, too.
I decided to give Williams soap one more chance. If it works for me, great. If not I'll never touch it again. Just one more chance.
I second the VDH Luxury, but the deluxe is pretty good too. Plus, as a bonus, you can melt either one and add ingredients to customize to your liking.
