Purchased this soap based the reviews of others, the smell, and a sale at Crabtree and Evelyn.....I'm glad I did.

The smell of the soap is distinctive. Either you'll like it our you won't. I like it and I look forward to shaving with it. It smells similiar to "Grey Flannel" cologne from the 80's. It's scent is strong in the jar and becomes less intense once it's lathered up.

Lathering is easy. Similiar to Tabac and Prorasa. Approx. 8-10 swirls with a wet badger brush and the soap comes alive. A few more (15 or so) swirls in the bowl and a dense rich lather emerges. (I haven't had trouble building lather with any soap yet...I believe my water is soft so YMMV). The only thing easier to lather are some creams like "Kiss My Face" or others that don't require a bowl and/or brush.

The soap is high quality and gives you the ability to get a close comfortable shave with minimal irritation.

It's a keeper and will always have a place in my rotation.

Even though the only scent of the C&E soaps I like is Sandalwood, it is by far one of my favorites, double the price change the scent and it would essentially be a Trumpers soap.

The only issue I have with the soap is, even after 6 months of use I can't kill the damn thing. :happy102

And welcome to The Shave Den!

To me, the Nomad scent is just so-so, but C&E makes excellent soaps. :)

Great stuff, it's one of my favorites, as well as the other C&E soap and cream varieties.

    Welcome to The Shave Den!

i like the scent of the Sienna way better than the Nomad but i swear i believe the Nomad makes better lather

i got lucky and was sent a puck of the Sienna and Nomad ..after i used them i was stoked..naturally my local CE had just went out of business.

i sure would have liked to have tried the Almond soap and cream cause i love me some Almond scents. maybe they will reopen another store sometime.

    Gentlemen,

    Thanks for the warm welcome!

    I also have Sienna by C&E and it's great as well. I got excited and bought multiple soaps my first 2 weeks. So far I've tried the following;

    Tabac

    Proraso soap (Green)

    Nomad - C&E

    Sienna - C&E

    Kiss My Face - Lavender

    L'Occitane de Provence - Cade

I haven't had a bad shave with any of the above. All are a little different but I'd honestly be splitting hairs to say that one "totally blew the other one away". The biggest difference for me is the smell and formulation (cream vs. soap). Admittedly, I've only be shaving with a DE for about 2 weeks so I'm still new. Maybe some major differences will emerge over time.

IMHO, C&E Sienna is one of the best smelling things in the world. If I'm in that room even between shaves, I'll open my shave den, take the top off the bowl, and inhale the fragrance. It's that irresistible.

Ditto! Nomad is okay, but I like Sienna better.

C&E soaps are great and seem to last a long time.

I wouldn't buy either Nomad or Sienna without smelling them first... I happen to LIKE Sienna, even have a bottle of the EdT, however Nomad (to me) is cloying and nauseating... Couldn't wait to get to a convenience store to wash my wrist when I sampled it once.

I agree! It's fantastic, and surprisingly one of the better performers I've used.

Being a newb I'm catching up on some older posts. I haven't tried the C&E Nomad but can vouch for the Sandalwood.

I used the Nomad soap a few years ago and enjoyed it a lot. Don't know why I stopped using it. This thread has given me the nudge to dig out the unopened puck I know I have somewhere!
