Hey, all. I'm Tom, and I'm here for most of the same reasons you all are, I guess. I went to buy some cartridges of my "razor" (handle?). You know, "37 blades and a strip of lanolin on each cartridge! 16 to a box for about what you paid for your first car!" Bought some 'Rite Aid" brand DE blades instead, and came home and dug out the razor my father had left me. I had used it a few times back in college, but decided I was too busy to take the time. I cleaned it up and put a new blade in it. I discovered a few things; I haven't lost my touch! Over the last few decades I had adjusted to the fact that "can o' goo" sucks! Even in this little mountain town, provided you have the razor, you can find everything else. It might not be pretty, but you can find it. For instance; 4 different places in town carry blades. Each one only carries their own brand, and they are all the same pack of Personnas, with the store's name on them. Burma Shave brushes; If they are the only brush in town, they'll do, until the UPS man comes. Bless Rite Aid for carrying the "Real Shave" shaving cream. Even after the UPS man comes, I'll eventually use it all. I'm enjoying this forum a lot, and I'm enjoying shaving again. Oh, and lurking around here I've discovered that dad's razor is a '58 Super Speed, in the tan and clear case that pops open when you push the button. So, only a couple of years older than I am.

Glad to have you here at 'da Den. Coming from a fellow Georgian (though now transplanted to Nashville) it's great to meet you. Some good friends of my wife's parents live up there on "My Mountain" I think it's called. IIRC, it's somwhere up there near you.
Hello and welcome to someone with a great name. Thanks for joining us here at The Shave Den. I hope you enjoy your stay.
